One week until Christmas Eve, people! If you still have some shopping to do, we first are thinking about you during this difficult-Louisville-traffic time and second, we hope we can help! We are ALL about shop small in Louisville. You get a unique, one of a kind gift and in return you are helping a small business! The following list is just some of our favorite local shops around town that are the perfect place to pick up last minute gifts for home decor – uh hello, no shipping required!
Stag and Doe
1013 E Main St, Louisville, KY 40206
This is not your typical Louisville home store in the least. They offer eclectic home furnishing and decor, giving Louisville shoppers something they previously have not been able to find in town: clean-lined furniture, earthy and handmade decor and unique art, all with a warm, modern vibe. Aside from the affordable prices they offer, I was impressed by the choice of chairs interestingly displayed on the wall, the art collection, and the assortment of pottery.
Louisville Hint: Stop next door and get a donut from Hi-Five Donuts! Our favorite is the fruity pebble donut!
Mahonia
806 E Market St, Louisville, KY 40206
Mahonia is a home store and floral design studio. They are basically a hybrid between a gift shop and a flower shop. They sell small home decor, live plants, containers for the plants, and flowers. The cool reason I included Mahonia in this list, is that they take extra care when it comes to customers coming in getting what they want. You can come in and buy anything off the shelves ready to go, or you can even bring in your own container and they will help you plant it up. It is definitely worth having a look. View website here.
Louisville Tip: Grab a famous (and SERIOUSLY delicious) chocolate chip cookie and a cup of joe or Laura Palmer (yes, they named a tea after Laura Palmer from Twin Peaks) at Please & Thank You next door! Extra tip: Pick up a Bake-It-Yourself box of cookie to make at home for Santa!
Crazy Daisy Antique Mall
1430 Mellwood Ave, Louisville, KY 40206
As they describe on their website, The Crazy Daisy is a 20,000 square foot antique and collectable mall. They offer everything from collectibles, vintage and antique. They have over 80 dealers and over 150 booths to peruse through and find that diamond in the rough. I think of it as your typical flea market, but with much better quality items to discover. There tends to be lots of good deals, so keep an eye out!
Louisville Tip: Go up the street on Frankfort Avenue and hit up The Silver Dollar for lunch and a bourbon drink! Extra Tip: And after that, go across the street and get a glass of bubbly at the Champagnery!
Mellwood Antiques and Interiors
1860 Mellwood Ave, Louisville, KY 40206
Much like the Crazy Daisy, this happens to be a large venue as well at 45,000 square feet with over 100 dealers and over 200 booths. They all showcase antiques, collectibles, fine furniture, and home furnishings. They are self proclaimed as having one of the largest collections of Retro, Mid-Century, Danish Modern, Industrial, Victorian, and period antiques in the Louisville area. They have everything from jewelry, clocks, books, coins, paintings, beds and dressers. As they say, it is a treasure hunter’s dream. View website here.
Louisville Tip: Try out Danny Mac’s Pizza while you are at Mellwood! Fondly named as one of the best pizza places in Louisville – it’s a must try!
Blooms Boutique
111 W Main St, La Grange, KY 40031
With the spirit of entertaining at its core, Blooms Boutique in La Grange offers shoppers unique decor, one-of-a-kind gifts, clothing, jewelry and florals! They pride themselves on bringing you new, fresh items and the latest fashion for any occasion or event. Their talented floral designers create designs for clients that fit every occasion and event. They are passionate about offering their clients the highest customer service with outstanding products, florals and prompt deliveries!
La Grange Tip: Stop in the Red Pepper Deli a few store fronts down on Main Street for some of the best pimento cheese you will ever have!
